A typical UK house retrofit in 2026 costs £8,000 to £14,000 for an air-source heat pump on its own after the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, or £35,000 to £70,000 for a phased deep retrofit across fabric, ventilation, heating, renewables and controls under PAS 2035. Payback at the Q3 2026 Ofgem cap (gas 7.33p, electricity 26.11p) runs roughly seven to fifteen years.
